I Survived World War II
Meta, the heroine of Brave Face: The Inspiring WWII Memoir of a Dutch/German Child, was only five years old when WWII began. But, she still bears the scars. The damage to children caused by violence and hatred is profound. For this reason, Meta would dearly love for her story to cause governing bodies to stop and think about the little ones. However, she is also a survivor. Meta knows that, with support and determination, it is possible to build a productive life despite PTSD. Invite her to speak to your group! You are sure to come away encouraged.
Immigration Issues
Both Caroline and Meta are immigrants born to immigrants born to immigrants. They know the difficulty of living in a culture that is not their own. They know the sting of prejudice and discrimination. They know the grit that is needed to make a life where everything feels foreign. And they know that, deep down, people around the world are the same! Invite this mother-daughter pair to address your group and be encouraged. They’ve found friendship everywhere they’ve gone and can hardly wait to meet you, too.
The Journey to Publishing
Brave Face is Meta’s first book, whereas Caroline has published in many genres and formats: children’s books, Bible studies, scientific books, chapters and papers, etc. She can also help your students to understand the journey required for anyone to be a successful published author, even if they are almost 88 years old! Getting an idea, outlining, editing, formatting, seeking a publisher versus self-publishing, creating a cover, figuring out a title, promoting, and more. Hard work? Yes! Fun? Absolutely! (See below)
Miracles in Brave Face
Brave Face contains a lot of tragedy and difficulties. But, our God is in the midst of difficulties. Hear Meta and Caroline talk about the many miracles that form the fabric of the book. Just some tasters: How did Meta overcome the evil Nazi, der Stiefel? How was her sister healed? And how in the world did a little girl from a wartorn country come to know Jesus?
