Have you noticed that things have become quiet on this Blog? It’s not because we aren’t working on the book. It’s because we are. Writing a book with the goal of attracting a professional publisher is not the same as writing a letter or a scientific paper, neither of which is difficult for Meta and Caroline, respectively. A children’s book requires a different set of skills and involves a steep learning curve.
With Caroline having attended a few webinars, read a few books, joined the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators, and participated in a Critique event, we’ve realized that, in the words of the famous song, “we’ve only just begun”.
Fortunately, Meta is staying with Caroline, due to COVID challenges, meaning that we can work together, well, in between sitting in the sun and knitting. We are digging deep into how WWII affected the person who began and remains that unique and resilient person who is Meta. The book is evolving—starting with the title. Watch this space!
